NuChemE Postdoc position now open
The NuChemE Pipeline is currently seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at New Mexico State University to advance the recovery of critical rare earth elements (REEs) from coal fly ash. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in the field of materials science and
chemical engineering.
The postdoctoral researcher will conduct literature review, computational, and experimental studies related to the phase behavior of rare earth elements and organic acid chelators in supercritical carbon dioxide co-solvent systems. The research will support the broader project to improve the recovery of rare earth elements from coal fly ash. The postdoc will work under the direction of Dr. Sergio Martinez-Monteagudo and Dr. Catherine Brewer to perform experiments on solubility of chemical compounds (e.g., organic acids, minerals, and others), develop the respective phase diagrams, and design separation strategies. The candidate will assist with the supervision of graduate and undergraduate students working on the research projects and will prepare drafts of manuscripts, presentations, and funding agency reports.
