NuChemE project team attend 3rd annual EM-MSIPP workshop
Last week on August 6th-7th, 20 NuChemE Pipeline team members (17 from NMSU & 3 from UTEP) made their way to the 3rd annual EM-MSIPP Achievement Workshop in Augusta, GA. The workshop offered a variety of programming for students and principal investigators, with the goal of furthering engagement with EM and EM MSIPP. Principal investigators took part in a session focused on applying for grants and competitive research awards, reporting and managing EM grants, and the future of the EM mission. Students engaged in sessions focused on networking and career readiness.
The teams participation in the EM-MSIPP workshop was proceeded by a quick stop at Georgia Tech on August 5, to meet with the group being lead by NuChemE project Co-Investigator, Dr. Ching-Hua Huang. This visit included research presentations and facility tours in Civil Engineering and the transuranic lab of Henry “Pete” La Pierre in Chemistry.
Following the EM-MSIPP workshop, team members with U.S. citizenship (19) were afforded the opportunity to tour the facilities at SRNL along with a presentation by James Therrel of SRNS as arranged by David Herman. Also during this time, Dr. Brewer and Dr. Ramos organized a whole team meeting with research update presentations, subgroup meetings for fall semester planning, and summer program planning.
